Anticipated Bus Delays

Due to the bus driver shortage, we will be increasing “double back” bus runs, meaning a bus is required to run two scheduled routes back to back that would normally have been covered by two separate buses. These “double backs” may impact delivery time to schools or bus stops and may have a domino effect, affecting after-school drop-off times.

WSES Celebrates Completion of its New Mural

On May 11, 2022, West Springfield Elementary School held a ceremony to reveal the new mural that will welcome students into the school every morning. Designed by artist Raman Singh with support from the WSES student body, the theme for the mural is “We see you. We welcome you. You belong here.”

WSES Goes Wild at the National Zoo!

600 students, 145 chaperones, 81 staff and 19 buses! April 28, 2022 marked the return of the tradition of school-wide field trips that Dr. Kelly Sheers started at West Springfield Elementary School. This year, all WSES staff and students (any many parents and grandparents!) spent the day visiting the National Zoo.

Dr. Kelly Sheers is Region 4 Principal of the Year!

Congratulations to Dr. Kelly Sheers who was awarded Outstanding Principal for Region 4 on Monday, January 31. Region 4 Superintendent Penny Gros along with Executive Principal Dave Jagels surprised Dr. Sheers with the presentation of her official selection to represent the Region in the district-wide Outstanding Employee Awards process.
