About Us

Welcome to West Springfield Elementary!

Mission Statement

We support the whole child by inspiring all students to achieve high academic and social standards while becoming responsible and innovative citizens in the community.

Vision Statement

West Springfield Elementary School (WSES) prepares all students for the future by developing critical and creative thinking, building positive relationships, supporting a caring culture, fostering a sense of community, and supporting each child to reach his or her full potential. We promote student achievement and equity through the use of culturally responsive instructional practices and resources that best meet the needs of a diverse student population. We honor the differences among cultures, value diversity, and interact knowledgeably and respectfully among a variety of cultural groups to support student learning.

Our vision is articulated in four key areas:

  • Caring Culture - We nurture a responsive, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
  • Community - We foster collaborative relationships among staff, students, families, and community members.
  • Achievement - We encourage and guide each student to reach his or her full social, emotional, and academic potential.
  • Critical & Creative Thinking - We empower all students to use their strengths, strategies, and skills to become independent thinkersAn apple divided into four connecting puzzle pieces- Caring Culture, Community, Achievement, and Critical & Creative Thinking
